Description

Our AHK-Cu 10mg vial holds 10mg of lyophilized AHK-Cu, a copper-binding tripeptide. It’s sold for laboratory research only.

AHK-Cu at a glance

AHK-Cu is the copper(II) complex of the tripeptide alanine, histidine and lysine. It’s a close cousin of GHK-Cu, with alanine in place of glycine.

That one change shifts where it’s most studied. GHK-Cu is mostly a skin peptide; AHK-Cu is mostly studied for hair follicles.

How AHK-Cu acts in the lab

Like GHK-Cu, AHK-Cu holds a copper ion and can deliver it to cells. Copper peptides influence growth factor signaling and the cells that build connective tissue.

In hair follicle culture work, AHK-Cu supported the dermal papilla cells that control the hair growth cycle, and was reported to reduce programmed cell death in them.

What the research says about AHK-Cu

The best known work is a 2007 cell study showing that AHK-Cu helped dermal papilla cells, the cells at the base of a hair follicle, grow and survive in culture. It’s since been used in hair and scalp cosmetic formulas.

Published data is small and almost all in vitro. It isn’t a drug.

Reconstituting AHK-Cu 10mg

Concentration is just the amount in the vial divided by the water you add. With 10mg in this vial:

  • 1ml of bacteriostatic water gives 10mg/ml
  • 2ml of bacteriostatic water gives 5mg/ml
  • 3ml of bacteriostatic water gives 3.33mg/ml

Pick the volume that keeps your own calculations simple, then write the concentration and the mixing date on the label.

Bacteriostatic water is the standard choice. Add it slowly so it runs down the side of the vial, then swirl or roll until everything dissolves. Shaking can damage the peptide, so skip it.

How to store AHK-Cu 10mg

The dry powder keeps best cold: 2 to 8°C in the fridge, or -20°C for long-term storage. After reconstitution, store it in the fridge and finish it within roughly four weeks.
