What is DSIP?
Delta sleep-inducing peptide (DSIP) is a nine-amino-acid peptide first isolated from rabbit blood in 1977 by Schoenenberger and Monnier. It was named for its effect on slow-wave sleep in rabbits.
Its natural role is still unclear.
How DSIP acts in the lab
DSIP was found while looking for compounds that drive deep sleep. Researchers named it for the delta waves of slow-wave sleep it seemed to boost in rabbits.
Later work suggested its effects are broader and less specific: it affects stress hormone release, body temperature and pain signaling. No receptor has been identified, which is part of why it’s still an open research question.

DSIP 5mg reconstitution and concentration

- 2ml of bacteriostatic water gives 2.5mg/ml
- 3ml of bacteriostatic water gives 1.67mg/ml
Pick the volume that keeps your own calculations simple, then write the concentration and the mixing date on the label.
Most labs use bacteriostatic water. Let the vial reach room temperature, run the water slowly down the inside of the glass, then roll it gently until the powder dissolves. Don’t shake it. Shaking can shear peptide chains.
Storing DSIP 5mg
Unopened, keep DSIP 5mg in a fridge at 2 to 8°C, or in a freezer at -20°C if it’ll be a while before you use it. Keep it out of direct light. Once mixed, keep it refrigerated and use it within about 28 days, which is how long bacteriostatic water stays good after opening.
